I

Minutes, Regular Meeting, La Porte City Council
March 14, 1984, Page 6
their parks; doesn't know how much will go.to Sylvan Beach.
Wondered if any others have been getting calls regarding the
restoration of Sylvan Beach.
In looking into the noise that we're getting, finds that the
noise pollution can be stopped only in the industrial zone.
Residential or commercial doesn't have anything on noise. We
need to look at that and get something on noise pollution.
We've got a lot of dogs running loose in my neighborhood. Has
been getting complaints.
Has had some letters regarding street work about wondering
when and if they're going to fix the driveways. Letters were
issued, but evidently people didn't get the, or go to the
front door, and were unaware of them.
Westergren: Has noticed for the last three weeks about dogs -
especially on Saturday mornings.
• Have we made any arrangements for the opening of the new addi-
tions to the fire station? Would like to see one of our native-
born citizens, George Sharp, Sr., recognized at the open house.
He's been a mayor of La Porte, a commissioner, and is the sole
surviving council member from the time they built the original
"new" city hall back in the 1930's. I think on this occasion
we really ought to recognize him.
Malone: I'm going to mention dogs, too.
trailer park says they'll come pick up a
she'll go back and check and the dog wil
is one trailer that has 16 dogs; some of
up twice. I don't know what we can do -
picking them up.
A 'lady in Mr. Post's
dog and an hour later
1 be there again. There
them have been picked
the dog catcher is
Mr. Owen, have. ~you~ and Jerry discussed a bridge ~on~ H Street .
there ~at Big Island Slough ~jus~t before ~you~ get to. th.e west end
of H Street? I have. ~talked~ to' a scPiool~ member and they said
if they could get 'a bridgethere ~it would save ~a lot .of time.
and effort the bus going down and turning around. The bus
can't go down and turn around now~and the kids have~to walk
about a quarter of a mile ~to get on the bus,.and it would help
when they make the rounds. If we~did that we'd certainly need
a red light a t Underwood and H .S tr~eet .~

Cline: Big Island Slough is a. Harris County.Flood~Control ditch
• ~ and to bridge that' you'd have. to get Harris. County to. do it .
