The meeting was called to order by Mayor Cline at 7:00 P.M. <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Virginia Cline, Council- <br />persons Linda Westergren, Norman Malone, Lindsay Pfeiffer, <br />Deotis Gay, B. Don Skelton <br />Members of City Council Absent: Councilperson Ed Matuszak <br />Members of City Staff Present: City Manager Jack Owen, City <br />Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Cherie Black, Director <br />of Administrative Services Bob Herrera, Police Chief Herb Freeman, <br />Finance Officer Debra Cole, Director of Parks and Recreation <br />Stan Sherwood <br />Others Present: Jimmie Ray Spradling, Mike Martinez, Linnea <br />Schlobohm of the Baytown Sun, Suzanne Lawler of the Bayshore <br />Sun, 17 citizens <br />• 2. The invocation was given by Councilperson Deotis Gay. <br />3. Council considered approving the minutes of the regular meeting <br />and public hearing held September 5, 1984. <br />Motion was made b Council erson Skelton to approve the minutes <br />of the September 5 meeting as presented. Second by Council- <br />person Malone. The motion carried, 5 ayes, 0 nays, 1 abstain. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Pfeiffer, Gay, Skelton and Mayor <br />Cline <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Councilperson Westergren (was not present on 9/5) <br />4. Mr. Jimmie Ray Spradling was to address Council regarding water <br />bills and regarding entrances to Fairmont Park Subdivision. <br />Mr. Spradling had not yet arried, so Council considered the next <br />agenda item. <br />5. Council considered an agreement with La Porte Area Ambulance <br />Corps to consolidate the ambulance service as a City department. <br />Mr. Owen reported that the ambulance board had met September 18 <br />and had approved this contract, and staff recommends the contract <br />• to the Council. <br /> <br />J <br />
