<br />The Commission instructed the City Clerk to hand tha City Attorney the names oP
<br />those property owners who had not paid their curb and gutter assessment. The City
<br />Attorney was instructed to write each of the owners, and if they did not answer,
<br />to sue immedi ately.
<br />The City Clerk read a letter from Hutcheson, Tiliaferro and Hutcheson, in which
<br />;they requested the City Co~nission to ratify the minutes 'of September 12, 1927,
<br />to reflect the legal-description of property conveyed at that meeting. The follow-
<br />ing action was taken:.
<br />"UPhereas, the minutes of September 12, 1927, failed to give the Lots, Block,
<br />and name of addition, the City Commission does now unanimously confirm and ratify
<br />the execution of that certain Quit Claim Dsed covering property described as Lots
<br />21 and 22, Block 11, La Porte; Harris County, Texas, same being dated the 1ltth .
<br />day of 'September, A. D.,-1927, and appears of record in the Deed Records of the
<br />County Clerks office of Harris County, Texas, in Volume 721, Page 39b, Recorded
<br />October 7th, 1927."

<br />A discussion was held on a water tank for the proposed r-ell site in Block 177,
<br />La Porte. `Raleigh Eriri.n~ .Supt. of .Public Works, had made a survey .f'or a tank,
<br />.and had. advised thie~.Commission 'that he had looked at several tanks 'and had talked
<br />with tank people, and found it impossible- at this time to purchase a metals tank«.
<br />He did, however, find a Redwood water tank, s~une being 36' in diameter, and lb~
<br />high, with redwood. top capaci-ty 115,000 gallons, which he .appraised the v clue
<br />to be approximatelg X5,000.00, and which could b e purchased for X1,1:00.00, F. 0.
<br />B. Camp Swift, Texas,- that is, i they acted `promptly, as several other people
<br />were contemplating its purchase.
<br />After considerable discussion, motion by Jones,~seaond by Crate?, authorizing J.E.
<br />Muldoon, City Clerk, to telephone'Grahaia P1pe and Supply Company, 1109 Bee18y
<br />Building, Fort 9~orth, Texas, that they would accept tank and have it hauled off
<br />site the early part of next week.

<br />Raleigh Erwin, Supt. of Public forks, also had advised the Commission.-that they
<br />could purchase 1 -Worthington Mater Pump, 2000 G P M, at 200 Head, Direct Conn-
<br />ected to 125 H. P. Westinhouse Motor, 3 Phase, 60 C, ltlt0 Volts, 1765 R P M,Starter
<br />twitch, also 10" & 12" flange gate valves and 10" check valves, for $2,000.00,
<br />which he considered a bargain. He appraised the pump value at ~lt,500.00. This
<br />pump would be 'necessary for the new proposed well.
<br />Mayor Pfeiffer stated that he had checked the price with both Layne Texas Co.,
<br />ltd., and Southern Engine & Pump Company, and their prices were $tt,200.00 or
<br />~l~,600.00. The M~ror asked the City-Attorney for his opinion in making-this pur-
<br />chase, with out advertiaf.ng for bids. -The City Attorney advised the Commission
<br />that iP there was no other pump of the~same specifications, and as .the price 'was
<br />a great deal less than other pumps, they would not be abusing the discretionary
<br />powers vested in their offices to avail a savings to the public.
