<br />MINUTES - SPECIAL MEETING <br />LA PCRTE CITY OOMldISSION -JANUARY 17, 1951 <br />10:00 A. M. <br />Special meeting of the City ComeLi.ssion was called to order by Mayan H. J. <br />Pfeiffer, with the following members and city officials present: Commissioners <br />Jas. S. Crate, Jr., and Wm. P. Jones, Supt. of Public Works Raleigh Erwin, <br />City Attorney Carl C. Patric k, and City Clerk J. L. Muldoon. <br />Minutes of the last .meeting were read and approved. <br />Mr. Calder Ewing, Agent fca~ the Texas Company, appeared before the Commission <br />and requested that his company be allowed to furnish their products to the <br />City. The Commission unanimously agreed to use Texaco gasoline and Diesel <br />Oil, replacing Humble Oil & Refining Company products, this service to be <br />commenced on or about Rebruary 1, 1951. <br />Motion by Jones, second by Crate, instructing the City Attorney to prepare <br />necessary instruments for transferring and exchanging four (I<) feet between <br />the City of La Porte and Gilbert Baldauf, in Block alt, Baby Front Addition. <br />Carried. <br />The City Clerk read a letter from Harry M. Ralston, City Electrical Inspector, <br />in which he requested a wage ad3ustment. The Commission referred his letter <br />to the Mayor for further discussion with Mr. Ralston. <br />.~7' <br />The City Clerk read a letter from Moore & Moore in which they complained about <br />water standing in their driveway on the newly constructed paving in front of <br />their property on Highway 146. This matter was handed to the Street Superinten- <br />dent, Raleigh Eztirin, with instructions to r emedy this condition if it was the <br />City~s fault. <br />Upon motion by Jones, second by Crate, that A. J. Cummings be appointed school <br />policeman for the term January 17, 1951 to Jar_~Zary 17, 1952. <br />Carried. <br />The X1,000 Surety Bond in behalf of A. J. Cummings was read and. approved, <br />upon motion by Jones, second by Crate, <br />Carried. <br />The City Clerk read a Resolution from the State Disaster Civil Defense District, <br />in which they requested the City to appoint a Civil Defense Director without <br />further notice or delay. <br />The Mayor appointed Frank R. Boyle, Sr., the Civil Defense Director of the City <br />of La Porte. <br /> <br />
