• • ~~ <br />M[NUTES - RE~'rUI,AR MEETI NCr <br />LA PORTE CITY CCCSSI(3~1 - AI~tST 16, 1951 <br />10:00 A. M. <br />Regular meeting of the City Co~nnission was called to order by Mayor H, J. Pfeiffer, <br />with the following members and c ity officials present: Commissioners Wm. P. Jones <br />and M D. Burgin, Supt, of Public Works Raleigh ~~dn, City Attcsney Carl C, Patrick <br />and City' Clerk J. E. Muldoon. <br />Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br />Vance T~a~er appeared beforethe Commission and. stated that the Texas State Board of <br />Plmntdng Egamin~s would give rations to City Inspectors on August 30 and. 31, <br />in Austin, Teas. He stated hs would tam the egami.nation but vaould like t o be <br />reimbursed for part of his e~cpenses. The City Commi,ssian unanimously agreed to <br />reimburse ham for his transportation and hotel expenses, transportation being egni.- <br />valent to train fare from La Porte to Austin. <br />Carried. <br />~'. Mi].t®n Beck and B~. Rex Baker appeared before the Cam~i.ssion and complained of <br />an inspection made by Vance Target on the Rector home in Becks addition to Oak- <br />hurst., After much. disarssion, it was decided to drop the aatter. <br />'~ H. P. Pfeiffer representing the Fire Department, appeared. before th,e Commiss~.on <br />and, requested a new I~1re, Tt-etck to replace the 1931 Ford Model A Tank Truck, as it <br />was wore ont and was an else to maintain. After much disc;assion, the Coa~i.ssion <br />instructed the City Clerk to procure bids from the local auto dealers., <br />The Ca®3.ssion unanimously instructed 8aleigh I~rin, Public War-ks Superintendent, to <br />lay a ti" water main do~rg bth Street to "Dtt Street, and have fire ~rdrants placed at <br />"Dp axrl "B~ Srtreets, lateral lines to be paid far by property owners, also to, past <br />far digging trenches at 13 cants peer focYt, <br />Carried. <br />Motion by Burgin, secoixi by Jones, instructing the City Clerk to increase Walter <br />Roberson, Police Chiefts check X25.00 for car allowance, in secardance with budget. <br />Carried. <br />The Commission instructed the City Clerk to readvertise for bids for t he construction <br />of additions to the Searage Treatment Plant, bids to be ®pened at 10:00 A, M. ~ Sept- <br />ember 7, 1951. <br /> <br />
