<br />Corn:zs.ttee recently a~~poir~ted bar -the City Commission, appeared 'Defogs the Commission
<br />and gave a report of their findings. They stated it ti~ras the consensus of opinion
<br />of tre committee that they fa-,ror the 1?~.tional Building Code 19.9, for the City
<br />of La Porte. `t'hey stated this ordinance, if adopted in. its entirety, ti~rould give
<br />the cit~r a reduction in it ~ s kev rate, ~~;hereby under the presont ordinance no
<br />reduction is being given9 also it is not as harsh as the present ordinance. The
<br />19.9 i?ational Building Code i~rould permit in many instances, the old building to
<br />be beautified.
<br />11-s. Blal{ey gave each of the Commissioners and 'ihe City ~ittorney a copy of the
<br />19?~9 Tdational Building Code, anal asked them to read it over. He stated the coi~::~ittee
<br />°rould meet again and make their recommendations to •the Com~aission,

<br />.r. Von tuber, rrit'r, the State Health Department, appeared before the Commission,
<br />and spoke on fly control and public health in general. He a1.so urged the City
<br />to employ a man far fly control tivork. He asked the City to call a mass meeting
<br />so the people could set up some l~i.nd of a health program,
<br />The City Co?limi.ssion informed I:Ir. Von :'caber they ti~rere glad he had appeared before
<br />them, anal zw uld like his help in setting up a health program.
<br />The Coru~.ssion set the date of June 26th, 1952, at 7:30 P. I:I., at the La forte
<br />I~i.gh School Gymnasium, for a mass meeting irz connection .~rith sanitation.
