M. <br />Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor M, D.Burgin, <br />with the follc~ring members and city officials present: Com:ni.ssioners L. R. Rigby <br />and Robert A. White, Supt. of Publ3,c ',storks ~. A. Arthur, City Attorney Edward J. <br />Cade, and City Clerk J.E. Muldoon. <br />Minutes of t he last meetings were read and approved. <br />A lengthy discussion was held with ~. Ernest Bro~rn, Bond Broker, in connection <br />with contemplated street and building bond issue. It was Mr. Brown's opinion the <br />City could float an issue of X200,000.00, with an increase in the tax rate to <br />twenty-one cents (~,21y~) per hundred, He suggested to the Commission that they <br />have their engineer,.drag a plan to ascertain. the cost and for selling issue to <br />the people. The Commission authorized the Mayor to contact A. B. Moore, Engineer, <br />fcr the cost of dra:sing a tentative plan for street work contemplated, <br />The Comn~i.ssion instructed the City Attorney to draw up as ordinance making it a <br />penalty for a~ person not duly authorized, to tamper with the city's water meters <br />or any other appurtenances to the city's water lines. <br />Motion by White, second by Rigby, authorizing the Supt. of Public Works to pur- <br />chase four winging trash cans and. place in appropriate, locations on Main Street. <br />• Carried. <br />Biotion by White, secorri by Rigby, that Ordinance No. h33, bei ng <br />AN ORDINANCE PROV]DING EUR THE TERMINATION OF LEGAL SERVICES OF <br />MR. ERNEST A. HIJIPP IN CONNECTION WITH CAUSE N0. 391,299 IN THE <br />DISTRICT COURT OF HARRIS COUNTY, TEAS, $0TH JUDICIAL- DISTRICT, <br />STYLED "STATE OF TERAS, E~. REL., SITE PILLOT ET. AL. VS. THE <br />CITY OF LA PCEiTE, ET. AL.; AND FURTHER PROVIDIl~ FOR PAYMENT OF <br />ATT~?.NEY' S FEES TO CITY ATT(~tNEY, ED@PARD J. CADS, FOR SERVICES <br />RENDERID IN. OONNECTION THFREVPITH OVER AND ABOVE REQrULAR DUTIES <br />AS CITY ATTORNEY, <br />be adopted as read. <br />Carried. <br />The Commission unanimously instructed the City Clerk to pay the State and County <br />taxes aryl court costs on Lots 18 to 28, Block 66, Bay Front Addition, and to <br />proc~e tax certificate. <br />Carried. <br />Motion by ~xite, :secorxl by Rigby,- to re-appoint the La Porte Liberal, as the <br />Cityt s official neePSpaper. <br />Carried. <br />
