D.Burgin, <br />with the following members and city officials present: Commissioner H. P. Pfeiffer, <br />(Rigby on vacation) Special Counsel Jno. S. Kiibler, and Gity Clerk J.E. Muldoon. <br />Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br />Mr,Avery J. Mouton appeared before the Commission and made an application for a <br />permit to build a sheet metal building to enlarge his washateria. He advised the <br />Commmission he planned to use wood studs in the construction of this building. <br />The Commission denied his application for reason that building was to b e con- <br />structed in the fire zone and wood is not permitted for studs in said zone. <br />The City Commission instructed the Corporation. Clerk to issue warrants to those <br />persons who ignored his letter to appear in court on traffic violations, an <br />additional fee of X5.00 for issuing warrant of arrest, to be added to fine.. <br />A discussion was held on the Pittsburg Tank and Tower Company in connection with <br />insurance claims. This matter was turned over to the Special Counsel, Jno. S. <br />Kiibler, f or action. <br />The City Corrrmission unanimously denied the La Porte Volunteer Fire Department <br />per~cri.ssion to put red libhts and sirens on their cars unless the volunteer <br />firemen had a rider on their liability insurance policy that would cover arty <br />accident in which. the firemen might be involved vrhile such equipment was in use. <br />The Commission instructed the Public Works Superintendent to clean brush out <br />of alley between North Second az d North lst Streets. <br />The City Com^.d.ssion approved a bell and light system that will tie in Vrith <br />the countywide defense alarm.. The system will cost the city an estimated <br />X7.50 per month for the telephone. <br />The City Commission instructed the Special Counsel, Jno. S. Kiibler, to write <br />Ed Niles and request him to irmmediatelYy return materials that he had borrowed <br />some months ago. <br />The Commission unanimously appointed H. P. Pfeiffer Mayor Pro Tem, until the <br />return of Mayor Burgin, or the regularly appointed Mayor Pro-Tem, L. R.
