<br />MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING <br />LA PORTS CITY COb~ISSION -SEPTEMBER 3, 1951 <br />10:00 A. M. <br />Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor Pro Tem <br />L, R, xigby, is the absence of Mayor M, D.Burgi n. Those present were Comm- <br />issioner H. P. Pfeiffer, Supt. of Publie tiltorks W. A. Arthur, Special Counsel <br />Jno. S. Kiibler, and City Clerk J. E. Muldoon. <br />Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br />~^, James Crate, Deputy Sheriff, appeared before the Commission, and re- <br />quested permission to build a pistol and rifle range on the rear of the <br />block where the City sewage disposal plant is located. <br />The Comm_i.ssion tentatively gave Mr. Crate permission to construct a range, <br />and instructed Special Counsel Jno. S. Kiibler to amend the present ordin- <br />ance which prohibits the shooting of firearms in the city, making an except- <br />ion for a police supertrised range. <br />Mayer Pro Tem Rigby read a letter from J. D. Morrow, in which he requested <br />to have curb and gutter installed adjacent to his property, as well as Mr. <br />Maurice Brights and Lawrence Bracey's property. He also enclosed a check <br />for ~~.00.00 for this construction. <br />Motion by Pfeiffer, second by Rigby to do this work, the property owners <br />named above to pay the exact cost of construction. <br />Carried. <br />The Commission instructed the City Clerk to write the owner of fence <br />closing 13th Street, to take down fence across this street. <br />The City Clerk presented a request by Mrs. A.A. Kennedy to redeem Lots 8 to <br />1l~, Block ]1, Bay Front, that had been purchased by the City of La Porte <br />under tax judgment No. 107529. The Commission unanimously agreed to let <br />Mrs. Kennedy redeem these lots for the amount of taxes and suit costs <br />that are assessed against them. <br />Carried. <br />The Commission instructed Special Counsel Jno. S. Kiibler to f ile suit <br />against Ed Niles and ~1i. P.
