Burgin,
with the following members and. city-officials present: Commissioners L. R. Rigby
and H. P. Pfeiffer, Special Counsel Jno.S. Kiibler, and City Clerk J. E. Muldoon.
D~inutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Mr. J:~T. Wi7.der of the Lewis L. Strey Company, appeared before the Commission,,. to
firxi out what the City's policy was on extension of water, sewer and stream facil-
ities to blocls5 which his company hopes to develop in the rye ar i~ture. These blocks
are 173, 17l~ and 176, La Porte. Mr. Milder stated that construction will begin
soon by his company on eight houses in Block 17b, where utilities are a simple
matter of extension, and streets have a]seady been cut. However, if sales should
be good, the Strey Company will build more homes in this block, as well as in Blocks
173 and 17l~, if adequate facilities can be obtained.
The Commission stated that while they welcomed any development, city funds are
limited; and that under axrrent policies, the city will cut the r~ex streets, but
the developer must surface them. After that is done, the City will maintain same.
In connection with the water and sewer facilities, the Commission advised Mr.
Wilder that the developer must pay far his own water and sewer extensions, and in
the event he has to pass property which he does not own, the City will give him
a ten year lease on the line, so that he may eventually recover some of his ir.~est-
ment, if the other property owners ever tie into the lines.
Corarnissioner Pfeiffer presented a set of recommendations on sewer extensions, to the
Commission, for study.
The Commission agreed to a cost analysis study of Pfeiffer~s plan, but Mayor Bur-
gin and Commissioner Rigby felt that the recommendations would be too costly for
the City. The cost analysis willbe used to determine whether the City could finan-
cially take care of .the sewer extensions, as recommended by Connni.ssioner Pfeiffer.
Motion by Pfeiffer, seco~xl by Rigby, to accept Eureka Fire Hose Company's bid on
300' of 12" fire hose, and 300' of 22" ~.re hose, totaling $95.00.
Carried.
The following men were unanimously approved by the Commission to serve as auxiliary
policemen: Charles D. Boyle, Tilman Cox, Lester Schima, H.G. Crofoot, K. A. Marta.n,
E.B. Strickland, C.E. Cuzn¢nings and Joe Jardina.
2t.~9
The Commission unanimously approved the purchase of badges for the auxiliary police-
men, badges to cost X2.00 each.
Motion by Rigby, second by Pfeiffer, to pay Ba1eo, Inc., his final payment four street
work done by his company, in the amount of ~2,1Gl~3.82.
Carried.
