• <br />The Mayor states that the Auditor has reaoaaenied the Burroughs aachine <br />for the Rork in the City Hall, inasauch as the sane fora: can be uses, <br />without the expense of getting neR and coapletely different ones. <br />Notion by Brown, second by Lamrler, that the City purchase the Burroughs <br />aachine, bawl on payaezrt when tax coney is received. <br />Carried. <br />Bids on the tax writing aachi~e were opened. There was only one bid on <br />this e~uipaent, as follows: <br />Aldressograph,-ldultigraph Corporation $2,179.00 <br />Motion by Brawn, second by LaPrler, that the City purchase the tax writing <br />aachine fra~a the above coapa~, <br />Carried. <br />The natter of the City adapting the Texas Moth Vehicle Laws was brought <br />up. Mr. Kiibler stated that we ~ron1d have to wrl.te our orris ordinances <br />using this book as a guide, eras that we could not adopt the book as a <br />whole. <br />ldr's. E. E. Mc Coabs would like the City to open and shell a part of <br />East "A" street, that part leading up to her garage, so that she can <br />get in and out, and wanted to kna- if she could pay for this work <br />iniastallaent payaents. The City has no set-up far installaent pay- <br />aents on this sort of work, aid the Ccnru~i.ssioners decides it would be <br />better to shell enough of that part of the street so that lbs. Mc Coatis <br />could get in and out of her garage. <br />Caraissioner Boyle brought up the natter of the Southern Pacific crossing <br />on Spencer Highway being eery rough and hard on front wheels of autoaobiles. <br />In his opinion, this should be repaired peraanently by the railroad cosy <br />pang. <br />Coaaissioner Boyle stated that a white cross should be placed on top of <br />the new elevated water tank. <br />The setter of the ~3.t~0 gas inspection fee was brought up by Caanissioner <br />Boyle. He stated that the gas coapar~r :aloes their arorn inspection on <br />eTery house they hook up, and only the people inside the city Baits of <br />La Porte are being stunk with this $3.0C fee. The people outside the <br />city Baits get this work done free by the gas co~a~. He stated that <br />he did not think it was right to penalize the people of La Porte by <br />charging then this X3.00 fee. After discussion, it was agreed they <br />would discuss this natter with Mr. Eckhardt Manager of the g as coapany, <br />and possibly do away with this inspection Yee, <br /> <br />
