<br />OF LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL
<br />AUGUST 27, 2001

<br />1. CALL TO ORDER
<br />
<br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Norman Malone at 6:00 p.m.
<br />
<br />Members of City Council Present: Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, Chuck Engelken,
<br />Howard Ebow, Peter Griffiths, Alton Porter, James Warren, Charlie Young, Jerry Clarke,
<br />and Norman Malone.
<br />
<br />Members of Council Absent: None
<br />
<br />Members of City Executive Staff and City Employees Present: City Manager Robert T.
<br />Herrera, City Attorney Knox Askins, Assistant City Manager John Joerns, City Secretary
<br />Martha Gillett, Assistant Finance Director Michael Dolby, Director of Administrative
<br />Services Carol Buttler, Parks and Recreation Director Stephen Barr, Public Works
<br />Director Steve Gillett, Emergency Services Director Joe Sease, Equipment Services
<br />Superintendent Lee Allen, Police Chief Richard Reff, Assistant Police Chief Aaron
<br />Corrales, Fire Marshal Paul Hickenbottom, Human Resources Manager Lorie Doughty
<br />and Building Official Debbie Wilmore.

<br />Others Present: Ruben Benavides, Dave Turnquist, Sib Carpenter, Spero Pomonis, Nick
<br />Barrera, Bill Scott, Mrs. Scott, Barry Beasley, Bobby Powell, Colleen Hicks, Roy Myers,
<br />Robert Irizarry, Lucia De Arcos, Rachel Buchanan, Lindsay Stockdale, Chris Walters,
<br />Misty Allen, Justin Dyer, Sean Delaldda, Travis Barnett and a number of citizens.

<br />2. Reverend Ron Burnett of Victory Tabernacle Church delivered the invocation.
<br />
<br />3. Council considered approving the minutes of the Regular Meeting and Workshop
<br />Meeting on August 13,2001.
<br />
<br />Motion was made by Councilperson Young to approve the minutes of the Regular
<br />Meeting and Workshop Meeting on August 13.2001 as presented. Second by
<br />Councilperson Clarke. The motion carried.
<br />
<br />Ayes: Sutherland, Griffiths, Engelken, Ebow, Warren, Young, Clarke, and Malone.
<br />Nays: None
<br />Abstain: Porter

<br />4. PETITIONS, REMONSTRANCES, COMMUNICATIONS, AND CITIZENS AND
<br />T AXP AYERS WISHING TO ADDRESS COUNCIL.
<br />
<br />The following citizens addressed City Council.
<br />
<br />Robert Irizarry, 301 E. Fairmont Parkway - addressed Council to show his support of
<br />continuing the Juvenile Curfew Ordinance.
