City Council Minutes 10-08-01— Page 2 <br />5. PROCLAMATIONS <br />There was no representative present to accept the Wings Over Houston Week <br />Proclamation. <br />Rose Wegmann of The Bridge, received the Domestic Violence Awareness Month <br />Proclamation. <br />6. Council considered approving a resolution declaring the intent to hold a bond election on <br />February 2, 2002. <br />Assistant Finance Director Michael Dolby presented the summary and recommendation <br />and answered Council's questions. <br />City Attorney read: RESOLUTION 2001-13 — APPROVE RESOLUTION <br />AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CALL FOR A <br />BOND ELECTION. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Warren to approve Resolution 2001-13 as presented <br />by Mr. Dolby. Second by Councilperson Engelken. The motion carried. <br />Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Porter, Warren, Young, Clarke, and Malone. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />7. Council considered approving an ordinance authorizing a contract between the City of La <br />Porte and the City of Morgan's Point, for emergency 911 dispatch and jail services, fire <br />suppression services, and emergency medical services. This item was previously tabled <br />at the September 24, 2001 City Council Meeting. <br />Emergency Services Director Joe Sease presented the summary and recommendation and <br />answered Council's questions. <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2001-2514 — AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND <br />AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND THE <br />CITY OF MORGAN' S POINT, FOR EMERGENCY 911 DISPATCH AND JAIL <br />SERVICES, FIRE SUPPRESSION SERVICES, AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL <br />SERVICES; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO <br />THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; <br />AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Porter to approve Ordinance 2001-2514 as presented <br />by Mr. Sease. Second by Councilperson Ebow. The motion carried. <br />Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Porter, Warren, Young, Clarke, and Malone. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />
