REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM <br />Agenda Date Requested: February 10, 2014 <br />Requested By: Traci Leach <br />Department: Administration <br />Report: Resolution: Ordinance: <br />Attachments: HOA Commitment <br />Attachments: <br />SUMMARY & RECOMMENDATION <br />As part of the FY 2014 budget, the Council approved funding for Community Coop projects, where <br />the City would partner with HOAs and other neighborhood groups to complete small beautification <br />and quality of life projects. A total of $20,000 was budgeted with a maximum City contribution per <br />project of $5,000. All projects would be considered on a first come, first served basis. The <br />Brookglen HOA had a project approved in October 2013 and a second project for Shady Oaks was <br />approved on January 13, 2014. There is $13,825 remaining. <br />The Fairmont HOA has requested Council consideration of an entryway project with a scope as <br />follows: <br />• Installation of electrical service at two entryways- one at Spencer Highway and Farrington <br />and another at Spencer Highway and Valleybrook <br />• Installation of irrigation system to serve the flower beds at each of the two entryways <br />The Fairmont HOA Board has approved a contribution of $5,000. Staff solicited quotes from three <br />electrical companies and received a low quote from Kevin Heine Electrical Services for $7,850 for <br />electrical work. Irrigation materials and installation is estimated to cost $2,150 for a total project <br />budget of $10,000. In-house forces will be utilized for the irrigation work. <br />Staff recommends approval of this project. <br />Action Required by Council: <br />Consider approval or other action authorizing the City Manager to execute a Memorandum of <br />Agreement with the Fairmont Park HOA for a community cooperation project (installation of <br />electrical and irrigation at 2 entryways) for a total City contribution of $5,000. <br />Approved for City Council Agenda <br />Corby D.
