• Regular Meeting 5/l/78 8 <br />17. CORRESPONDENCE - Mayor Meza read a letter from Bob Gammage, <br />House Representative, concerning the City of La Porte's <br />standing on the priority funding list for the 92-500 Grant, <br />asking for any consideration the Texas Department of Water <br />Resources might give. A copy of the letter is attached and <br />made a part of these minutes. <br />18. DISCUSSION OF DEPARTMENT PROJECTS - The City Administrator <br />requested a brief executive session. <br />The City Attorney informed the Commission of a meeting regarding <br />airport zoning to be held on May 9, 1978, at 6:00 P.M., Deer <br />Park City Hall, to answer any questions Deer Park might have. <br />CHARTER REVISION - Gail Hamilton updated the Commission on <br />the status of the Charter Revision, stating that they had <br />the necessary information now ready for the census takers; <br />using the water work books, a letter of introduction from <br />• Mr. H. P. Pfeiffer and instructions on what information was <br />to be obtained. Anticipated completion of the census will be <br />May 15, 1978. <br />SISTER CITY SEMINAR - Mayor Meza stated that he and Commissioner <br />Cline had attended a seminar in Austin on April 24, 1978, regarding <br />the Sister City program. He then asked Commissioner Cline to make <br />comment on the seminar. <br />Commissioner Cline stated that she felt the seminar was most <br />informative and very interesting to see the programs that other <br />cities were in; the cultural aspects and would highly recommend <br />that the City become a member of the National Program. The City <br />is now a Sister City with Cd. Valles, S.L.P. Mexico. <br />19. EXECUTIVE SESSION - V.A.T.S. - ARTICLE 6252-17 - SECTION 2 - <br />(E) AND (G) - (LITIGATION AND PERSONNEL) - Motion by Commissioner <br />Kibodeaux, seconded by Commissioner Tomerlin that the meeting <br />recess for an executive session. Motion carried by the following <br />vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Tomerlin, Kibodeaux, Cline, and Simons. <br />isNAYS: None. <br />The meeting recessed at 7:45 P.M. <br />The meeting reconvened at 9:00 P.M. <br />
