• <br />Special Called Meeting - 8/8/80 <br />• <br />Page 2 <br />Commissioner Simons stated he felt the election should be post- <br />poned because of the large number of citizens leaving town. <br />Commissioner Cline stated she was in favor of postponing the <br />election to the 23rd of August to give everyone a chance to <br />get back home and get their mind back on civic matters. <br />Commissioner Kibodeaux stated he felt the election should be <br />postponed because at this time no matter what the outcome of <br />the election it wouldn't be a true picture of the peoples <br />choice. <br />Mayor Meza stated he felt the storm would not present any <br />threat to the La Porte area however he would yield to the <br />concensus of the Commission and entertain a motion. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Kibodeaux to adopt Ordinance <br />No.1223 as read by the City Attorney. The motion was seconded <br />by Commissioner Simons. The motion carried 3-ayes and 0-nays. <br />AYES: Cinnussuibers Kibodeaux, Cline, Simons. <br />NAYS: None <br />The City Clerk was directed to .publish the Ordinance 3 times <br />in total, to post the Ordinance at all three polling places <br />and the City Hall. She was alson directed to contact the <br />Secretary of States office and all election judges as to the <br />new date for the election. Absentee voting will begin again <br />on Monday August 11 and continue thru August 19th at 5:00 <br />P.M. <br />Motion to adjourn by Commissioner Cline, seconded by Commis- <br />sioner Simons.
