The meeting was called to order by Mayor Meza at 7:00 P.M. <br />Members of the Council present: Mayor J. J. Meza, Council- <br />persons Norman L. Malone, John Longley, Gus Faris, I. J. Kibo- <br />deaux, Tom Simons, Deotis Gay, Don Skelton, Linda Westergren <br />Members of the Council absent: None <br />Members of the City Staff present:. City Manager James R. <br />Hudgens, City Attorney Knox As ins, City Secretary Betty T. <br />Waters, Police Chief H. F. Freeman, Assistant Public Works <br />Director Steve Gillett, Staff Engineer John Joerns, Chief <br />Inspector David Paulissen, Parks Director Stan Sherwood, Fire <br />Chief Joe Sease, Fire Marshal Paul Hickenbottom <br />• Others present.: Frieda Beaty of the Baytown Sun; Betsy Webber <br />of the Bayshore Sun; Dave Corbin of Busch, Hutchison Engineers, <br />Inc.; and 108 interested citizens <br />2. The invocation was given by Councilperson Malone <br />3. Council considered the minutes of the Joint Public Hearing and <br />Regular Meeting of the La Porte City Council held September 16, <br />1981. <br />A motion was made by Councilperson Kibodeaux to approve and <br />accept the minutes as presented of the September 16, 1981, <br />Joint Public Hearing and Regular Meeting of the La Porte City <br />Council. Seconded by Councilperson Skelton. The motion car- <br />ried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Kibodeaux, <br />Simons, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />4. Council considered a change order #2 on the EPA Setp III, <br />Contract III for the Lift Stations. Big M Constructors, Inc. <br />is the contractor on this project. The nature of the change <br />is the installation of two electrical poles, temporary con- <br />nection of new pumps to old discharge line at Fairmont Park <br />Lift Station, repair of Entex Metering Station cathodic pro- <br />tection system, and extension of contract time from 60 working <br />• days to 150 working days. This change order would result in <br />a $3,344.80 increase in the contract, from $193,121.00 to <br />$196,465.80. <br />
