<br />MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />LA PORTS CITY COMM/SS/ON, LA PORTS, TEXAS <br />May 19, 1969 <br />7:00 P.M. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSIaN PRESENT: Mayor H, P. Pfeiffer, Commissioners <br />Bobby J. Burgin, Charles D. Boyle, H. Gould Crofoot, and <br />E. A. Thomas. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: None. <br />OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT; City Administrator P. V. Werner, City <br />Attorney Knox W. Askins, City Clerk Marilyn Kelley, Chief of <br />Police H. F. Freeman and Corporation Court Judge George Counts. <br />PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer. <br />+ + + <br />9. The minutes of the regular meeting held on Nay 5, 1969, were <br />approved as presented. <br />t + + <br />2. The Commission and interested citizens held a lenghtly discussion <br />concerning the request from Southern Pacific Railroad Company, <br />to close certain streets and alleys. <br />Commissioner Thomas made a motion, that the Commission deny <br />the request to close the streets and alleys. The motion <br />died for lack of a second. <br />+ + + <br />3. Commissioner Crofoot made a motion, seconded by Commissioner <br />Burgin, that the Commission call an election for August 23, 9969, <br />to consider possible charter amendments. Motion carried. <br />t + t <br />4. A motion was made by Commissioner Thomas, seconded by Commissioner <br />Boyle and carried, that the following amendments be recommended, <br />in addition to the previously named ones: <br />A. That a new Commissioner be sworn in on the second <br />Monday instead of the first Monday. <br />B. That Commissioners be elected to specific duties, <br />rather than assigned duties. <br />+ + + <br />
