• <br />MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING <br />of the <br />LA PORTS C/TY COMMISSION, LA PORTS, TEXAS <br />AUGUST 4, 1969 <br />7:00 P.M. <br />MEMBERS OF THE CC~ri1/SSION PRESENT: Mayor H.P.Pfeiffer, Commissioners <br />Bobby J. Burgin, Charles D. Boyle, H. Gould Crofoo# and E. A. Thomas. <br />MEMBERS OF THE CQMMISSION ABSENT: None. <br />OTHER C/TY OFFICALS PRESENT: City Administrator P. V. Werner, City Clerk <br />Virginia Cline, City Attorney Knox Askins. <br />PRESIDING: Mayor Pfetffer. <br />1. Minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 21, 1969 were corrected as follows: <br />Item No. 9 - to read Block 1120 instead of Block 1180. <br />+ + + + + + + <br />2. Bids were received for roadway tmprovements to the following streets; <br />'H' Street, Texas Avenue, 'G' Street, First Street, Eight Street, <br />Nugent Street, Holmes Street, Roscoe Street. ( See Exhibt No. 1 ) <br />Commissioner 8urgtn made a motion, seconded by Commisstoner Boyle that <br />the Bids be referred to the Engineer for tabulation. <br />+ + + + + + <br />3. A special meeting was called for 7:00 P. M., August 7, 1969 by Mayor <br />Pfeiffer. <br />+ + + + + + <br />4. Mr. M. R. Froehlich, Attorney for Mr. Joe Camp appeared before the <br />Commission in regards to Mr. Camp's request on closing the street and <br />alley's in blocks 123 and 124. A proposed form of Escrow Agreement between <br />the City of La Porte and Mr. Camp was discussed. The Commission advised <br />Mr. Froehlich that no postive action could be taken at this time, but felt <br />sure a decision would be reached at the meeting August 7, 1969. <br />+ + + + + + <br />5. Mr. Vernon Hambrick appeared before the Commission and asked that the City <br />do something about the dust in the 100 block of Lobit. The Commission <br />assured Mr. Hambrick action would be taken to relieve this condition. <br />Recommendifion was made to use SA-1, a new chemical treatment. <br />+ + + + + + <br />6. Mr. Werner read a Letter from H. Carlos Smith regarding his survey of <br />the street work that is still under guarantee. The survey showed there <br />are several places where repair work is needed. Mr. Werner was asked <br />by the Commission to contact the West Construction Company and Gulf <br />Bitulithic Company in regards to having the work done while the guarantee <br />is still in effect. <br />+ + + + + + <br />7. The Mayor stated the date of August 18, 1969 had been set for a Public <br />Hearing to consider amending Section 13-404 Sub-paragraph (4) (C) of <br />Ordinance 780, to hereafter read as follows, to wit: <br />A lot on which there is erected or converted a mutip.le-family dwelling <br />shall contain an area of not less than one thousand two hundred (1,200) <br />square feet per family unit situated on the ground floor; provided, <br />however, any Lot on which a multiple-family dwelling is erected <br />shall contain a minimum of six thousand (6,000 ) square feet. <br />
