<br />MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />LA PORTS CITY COMMISSION, L~ PORTS, TEXAS <br />SEPTEMBER 28, 1970 <br />'7:00 P.M. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION PRESENT: Mayor H. Carlos Smith <br />Commissioners E.A.Thomas, I.J.Kibodeaux, Bobby J. Burgin <br />and H. Gould Crofoot. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: None. <br />OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: P.V.Werner, City Administrator; <br />Virginia Cline, City Clerk; Knox Askins, City Attorney; <br />Robert Cline, Director of Publie Works and H.F.Freeman, <br />Chief of Police. <br />PRESIDING: Mayor Smith. <br />+ + + <br />Invocation was offered by Commissioner Burgin. <br />1. Minutes of the regular meeting of September 14,1970 <br />were approved as presented. <br />+ + + <br />2. Mayor Smith opened the Public Hearing on Ordinance <br />No. 864, an ordinance declaring the intention of <br />the City of La Porte to institute proceedings to <br />annex certain territory in the W. P. Harris Survey <br />A-30, out of Harris County. Mayor Smith then read <br />the legal description of the area to be annexed. <br />He stated the area was 396 acres of land, more or <br />less and included the Pine Bluff, Bayside Terrace, <br />Bay Oaks and Shady River additions. <br />Mr. Ernest Brown, fiscal agent for La Porte, <br />presented the Commission with a financial report <br />of the Bayshore Municipal Utility District. <br />Mr. Brown stated in his opinion the annexation <br />was practical, feasible amd beneficial for La Porte. <br /> <br />
