• <br />MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />LA PORTS CITY CCMN/SS/ON, LA PORTS, TEXAS <br />„~, JANUARY 5, 1970 <br />7:00 P.M. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMM/SS/ON PRESENT: Mayor H.P.Pfeiffer, Commissioners <br />E.A. Thomas, Charles D. Boyle, H.Gould Crofoot and Bobby J. Burgin. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMM/SS/ON ABSENT: None. <br />OTHER C1TY OFFICIALS PRESENT: P.V. Werner, City Administrator, <br />Virginia Cline, City Clerk, Knox Ask ins, City Attorney, Robert C1tne, <br />Director of Public Works and H. F. Freeman, Chief of Police. <br />PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer. <br />+ + + <br />1. Minutes of the regular meeting of December 15, 1969 and the <br />special meeting of December 18, 1969 were approved as presented. <br />+ + + <br />2. Mr. Hugh Landrum, Tax Appraiser, gave a report on the assessed <br />valuation of city taxes for 1969. Mr. Landrum stated there <br />was an approximate increase of a million dollars over the <br />previous year. Mr. Landrum expressed his appreciation for <br />the co-operation he has received from the Commission and <br />Mrs. Ruth Huddleston. <br />+ + + <br />3. Motion was made by Corr~nissioner Boyle, seconded by <br />Commissioner Crofoot that the contract for three (3) <br />horizontal self prime sewage pumps, companion motors, <br />pump frames and electrical controls be awarded to the <br />Pump and Power Equipment Company in the amount of $5,649.00, <br />said company being the lowest responsible bidder who submitted <br />a bid on December 30, 1969. Motion carried by the following <br />vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Thomas, Boyle, Burgin and Crofoot. <br />NAYS: None. <br />+ + + <br />4. Motion was made by Commissioner Boyle, seconded by <br />Commissioner Thomas that Mr. Barlow be authorized to <br />advertise and receive bids for renovation work of the <br />wet well. Motton carried by the following vote: <br />AYES: Commmissioners Thomas, Boyle, Burgin and Crofoot. <br />NAYS: None. <br />+ + + <br />5. Motion was made by Commissioner Burgin, seconded by <br />Commissioner Boyle that Mr. Werner be authorized to <br />investigate the possiable cost of an, area water survey <br />for recommendattons to the Commission.
