Boyle, Sr. spoke in favor of the re- <br />zoning, stating he was very much impressed with <br />Mr. Baker's plans and thought the park would be a <br />good thing for La Porte. <br />H. Carlos Smith asked if lots were to be sold. <br />Mr. Baker stated that lots would not be sold. <br />No objections to the proposed zoning were rendered. <br />Mayor Pfeiffer asked if there were any further comments <br />and there being none, he declared the hearing closed. <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission then voted to <br />recommend the proposed zoning. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Burgin, seconded by <br />Commissioner Thomas that Blocks 1, 2,14,15, and 16, <br />Nebraska Syndicate be re-zoned from R-1 Residential <br />to Mobile Home Park to be developed in accordance <br />with the City Ordinance controlling Mobile Home <br />Parks, also that portions of 16th Street, Fairlane, <br />and 14th Street be dedicated streets. Motion carried <br />by the following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Thomas, Burgin and Crofoot. <br />NAYS: None. <br />3. Mr. Ed Barlow, Consulting Engineer, presented a report <br />to the Commission on extending city sewerage service <br />to Outlot #28.(See exhibt 1) Total estimated cost <br />being X73,000. <br />Mayor Pfeiffer stated that H. Carlos Smith, engineer <br />employed by Mr. Lawler, has prepaired a cost estimate <br />of $56,300. Mayor Pfeiffer suggested that. Mr. Barlow <br />and Mr. Smith compare figures. <br />Mr. Smith and Mr. Barlow retired to another room and <br />returned later in the meeting with a reconciled <br />figure of $64,400. <br />After discussing the possibilities of a federal <br />grant and other sources of financing the project, <br />Commissioner Boyle recommended that property owners <br />be notified by letter of the cost to make the service <br />available to them and that Mr. Barlow be authorized <br />to contact HUD. <br /> <br />4.
