~ ~ <br />rlINUTES - REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />LA PORTE CITY COMMISSION, LA PORTE, TEXAS <br />JULY 6, 1970 <br />7:00 P.M. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION PRESENT: Mayor H. Carlos Smith, <br />Commissioners E. A. Thomas, I. J. Kibodeaux, Bobby J. Burgin <br />and H. Gould Crofoot. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: None. <br />OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: P.V.Werner, City Administrator; <br />Virginia Cline, City Clerk; Knox Askins, City Attorney; <br />Robert Cline, Director of Public Works; and H.F.Freeman, <br />Chief of Police. <br />PRESIDING: Mayor Smith. <br />+ + + <br />Invocation was given by Commissioner Kibodeaux. <br />1. Minutes of the regular meeting of June 15, 1970 <br />were approved as presented. <br />+ + + <br />2. Motion by Commissioner Thomas, seconded by <br />Commissioner Kibodeaux to table action on the <br />contract with Mr. Hovey for accounting service's <br />pending further study on cost comparison for all <br />billing and accounting service's. Motion carried <br />by the following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Thomas, Kibodeaux,Burgin, and <br />Crofoot. <br />NAYS: None. <br />+ + + <br />3. Commissioner Burgin read the proposals received <br />for the employees hospitalization insurance. <br />Motion by Commissioner Thomas, seconded by <br />Commissioner Burgin to accept the low bid <br />from Farmers Life for $28.36 which will <br />include an increase in the life insurance to <br />$3,000, effective as of August 1, 1970. <br /> <br />
