• ~ z <br />3, A lengthly discussion was held on the request <br />of Chemsoil Engineers to operate a landfill <br />for industrial waste Type II materials, in <br />Outlot 1'] of the Nebraska Syndicate. <br />Motion by Commissioner Thomas, seconded by <br />Commissioner Crofoot that the request be <br />denied. Motion carried by the following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Thomas, Ribodeaux, Burgin <br />and Crofoot. <br />NAYS: None. <br />+ + + <br />4. Mrs. Emma Smith addressed the Commission in <br />regards to the closin of twenty (20) feet of <br />"X" Street and forty ~40) feet of Park Avenue <br />in Block 13?3, I,a Porte. Mrs. Smith presented <br />a petition signed by other property owners in <br />the area agreeing to the closing of these streets. <br />Motion by Commissioner Crofoot, seconded by <br />Commissioner Burgin to table action on Mrs. <br />Smith's request until the City had the oppor- <br />tunity to determine where water and sewer <br />lines would be installed in the area. Motion <br />carried by the following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Thomas, Kibodeaux, Burgin <br />and Crofoot. <br />NAYS: None. <br />+ + + <br />~ The request of the Za Porte Police Posse for <br />permission to use the old garbage disposal <br />area for a rodeo arena was postponed until <br />the next meeting. <br />+ + + <br />6. The request of Mrs. Mineola Walker to build <br />a rodeo arena on North Broadway was referred <br />to the City Inspector. <br />+ + + <br />?. Commissioner Thomas stated a Public Hearing <br />was being held in Austin on August 11, 1970 <br />in regards to the DuPont Company's proposed <br />disposal wells at the La Porte plant and <br />suggested the Commission send a representa- <br />tive to the hearing. <br />
