<br />Regular Meeting-3/1/71-continued <br />• , <br />rebruary 11, 1971 and that notices were mailed to all <br />property owners within 200 feet of the property to be <br />rezoned on February 12, 1971. <br />Architects Robert and Richard Husmann spoke in regards <br />to how the property would be developed. They presented <br />a site plan for the proposed apartment complex and <br />stated there would be approximately 250 townhouses with <br />a swimming pool, recreational building and park. Total <br />units would house between 750 and 800 people. <br />Mr. Frank Bonner Howard spoke in favor of the rezoning. <br />Mr. Howard stated his bay front property would be <br />completely surrounded by the development, but he felt <br />that La Porte would benefit tax wise and population <br />wise as it would provide needed housing for the area. <br />No opposition to the rezoning was expressed, but several <br />questions were asked by the following residents of the <br />area: <br />Mr. Carl Lyon <br />Mrs. Elaine Bonner <br />Mrs. Dixie Lincoln <br />Mr. Matthew Greco <br />• Mrs. Fred Carey <br />Mrs. Lois Smith <br />Mayor Smith asked if there were any further comments, <br />and there being none, declared the hearing closed. <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission presented their <br />recommendation to rezone that portion of 13.33 acres <br />in the Johnson Lo~;gins tract south of Little Cedar <br />Bayou and the 13.88 acres in the F. Bonner Howard <br />tract from R-1 Residential to Multiple Family Dwelling <br />only, with no commercial use intended. <br />Motion by Comm. Crofoot, secon~ed b,~T Comm. Burgin <br />to accept the Planning; and Zoning Commissions rec- <br />ommendation as stated above.
