~ ~ <br /> <br />Regular Meeting 8/21/72 - continued <br />It was ascertained that a notice of the hearing <br />was published in the official newspaper of the <br />City on August 10, 19'72. <br />Mr. Broussard read a recap of the proposed budget <br />which totaled ~1, 404, 659.00. <br />A. Carlos Smith and Robert E. Thrower asked <br />questions pertaining to the water and sewer <br />department. <br />Mrs. Evelyn Kennedy, Director of the Neighbor- <br />hood Centers Program, asked for a break down <br />of the parks and recreation departments budget. <br />Comm. Christensen read the line items in the <br />budget and in answer to Mrs. Kennedy's question <br />stated $2,000 was budgeted as the City's <br />contribution to the Neighborhood Center. <br />• <br />Mrs. Kennedy stated the City had been very co- <br />operative in maintaining the ball fields and <br />it was very much appreciated, however in order <br />to carry on the programs they offer to the <br />people, the $160.00 a month budgeted was not <br />enough and they would like to ask for an <br />increase. <br />Comm. Christensen stated he felt the City had <br />increased their contribution by maintaining <br />the ball fields and paying for the lights. <br />Mayor Thomas asked if there were any further <br />questions pertaining to the budget, and there <br />being none, declared the hearing closed. <br />Motion by Comm. Kibodeaux, seconded by Comm. <br />Sampson that the public hearing on the proposed <br />budget for 1972-73 be closed. Motion carried <br />by the following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Christensen, Kibodeaux <br />and Sampson. <br />NAYS: Commissioner Boyle. <br />+ + + <br />• 3. Motion by Comm.
