APPROVAL OF MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING - OCTOBER 3, 1977. <br />Motion by Commissioner Cline, seconded by Commissioner Simons <br />to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting held October 3, <br />1977, as presented. APPROVAL OF ACCOUNTS PAYABLE - Motion by Commissioner Tomerlin, <br />seconded by Commissioner Kibodeaux to approve the Accounts <br />Payable as presented. A copy of the Accounts Payable is attached <br />and made a part of these minutes. EXPRESSION OF APPRECIATION - CARRINGTON WEEMS - Mr. Carrington <br />Weems was recognized and addressed the Commission, expressing <br />the appreciation of the Weems family to the City of La Porte <br />for naming of Wharton Weems Boulevard in memory of his late <br />father, Wharton Weems. In further appreciation, Mr. Weems <br />gave an executed deed to the City of La Porte for the east <br />one-half of Block 1253, Town of La Porte; in memory of his <br />Mother, Matilde B. Weems. This gift of land to the City is <br />to help encourage the good and orderly development of the area. <br /> <br />The Commission expressed appreciation to the Weems family for <br />their gift of land to the City. <br /> <br />+ <br /> <br />+ <br /> <br />+ <br /> <br />6. <br /> <br />VISITORS WISHING TO ADDRESS THE COMMISSION - (A.) Mr. Ed Norton - <br />was recognized and addressed the Commission regarding his opposition <br />to the City's alley closing procedures, and the hazards of dumpsters. <br /> <br />(B.) J. R. Spradling - 3302 Valley Brook - Mr. Spradling addressed <br />the Commission regarding sewer system problems, the condition of <br />the streets in Fairmont Park and incompetent personnel working <br />for the City. <br /> <br />+ <br /> <br />+ <br /> <br />+ <br />
