JOINT PUBLIC HEARING WITH PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION TO <br />CONSIDER REZONING THE EAST ONE-HALF (E. 1/2) OF BLOCKS 832, <br />AND 825, AND LOTS 17 THROUGH LOTS 29,-BLOCK 796, TOWN OF LA PORTE, <br />FROM RESIDENTIAL TO "C" APARTMENT AND COMMERCIAL - The hearing <br />was opened and Mr. Fred Westergren spoke on behalf of W. F. Jones, <br />locating the property on the board. Mr. Westergren was in favor <br />of the rezoning. <br />Mr. Frank R. Boyle, Sr., was recognized and was interested in <br />the availability of utilities. It was determined that utilities <br />were available in the area. He had no objections to the rezoning. <br />Mr. Joe Ligi spoke on behalf of the Planning and Zoning Commis- <br />sion. The Zoning Commission was not in favor of the rezoning <br />due to the amount of Commercial property. <br />There was a general discussion regarding the need for the <br />Zoning Ordinance as well as looking at all the property on <br />the Zoning Map, to be revised or possibly completely redone. <br />Motion by Commissioner Simons, seconded by Commissioner Kibodeaux <br />to rezone the East one-half of Blocks 832, 825, and Lots 17 thru <br />• 29, Block 796, town of La Porte, from Residential to "C" Com- <br />mercial and request that the Planning & Zoning Commission look <br />at the approximately 20 blocks in the area to see if there was <br />a need for a different zoning. Motion carried by the following <br />vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Kibodeaux and Simons. <br />NAYS: Commissioner Tomerlin <br />Mayor Meza cast a vote of Aye. <br />+ + + <br />4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING - NOVEMBER 21, 1977 •- <br />Motion by Commissioner Tomerlin, seconded by Commissioner <br />Kibodeaux to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of <br />November 21, 1977, as presented. Motion carried by the following <br />vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Tomerlin, Kibodeaux, and Simons. <br />NAYS: None. <br />• + + + <br />
