• • <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF <br />LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />APRIL 25, 1994 <br />1. <br />2. <br />3. <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Norman Malone at 6:00 <br />P.M. <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Norman Malone, <br />Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, Mike Cooper, Bob Thrower, Bob <br />McLaughlin, Alton Porter, Deotis Gay, Jack Maxwell and Jerry <br />Clarke <br />Members of Council Absent: None <br />Members of City Staff Present: City Manager Robert T. <br />Herrera, City Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Sue Lenes, <br />Assistant City Manager John Joerns, Director of Administrative <br />Services Louis Rigby, Chief of Police Bobby Powell, Director <br />of Public Works Steve Gillett, Secretary to the City Manager <br />Carol Buttler, Director of Parks and Recreation Buddy Jacobs <br />Others Present: La Porte Livestock Show and Rodeo Association <br />President Dee Williamson, a number of Association members, Kim <br />Dear, President La Porte FFA Association, and a number of La <br />Porte citizens. <br />The invocation was given by Councilperson Alton Porter. <br />Council considered approving minutes of Regular Meeting April <br />11, 1994. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Cooper to approve the minutes <br />of April 11 as presented. Second by Councilperson McLaughlin. <br />The motion carried, 8 ayes, 0 nays and 1 abstain. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Councilperson Porter <br />4. There were three citizens wishing to address Council. <br />Dee Williamson: Spoke in favor of approval of Ordinance 94- <br />1970-A, amending the agreement between La Porte Livestock Show <br />and Rodeo Association and the City of La Porte, which <br />addressed the use of the Arena. This ordinance was passed by <br />the City Council on March 28 by Ordinance 94-1970, and <br />included the verbiage "subject to the approval of the City <br />Manager or his designee".
