The meeting was called to order by Mayor Malone at 6:00 P.M. <br /> <br />Members of City Couneil Present: Mayor Norman Malone, <br />Councilpersons Betty Waters, John Lloyd (arrived at 7:10), Ed <br />Matuszak, Alton Porter (arrived at 7:12), Mike Shipp, Deotis <br />Gay (arrived at 6:40), B. Don Skelton, Jerry Clarke <br /> <br />Members of City Council Absent: None <br /> <br />Members of City Staff Present: City Manager Bob Herrera, <br />City Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Cherie Blaek, <br />Assistant City Manager John Joerns, Assistant to the City <br />Manager Janie Luna, Police Chief Charles Smith, Director of <br />Public Works Steve Gillett, Director of Parks and Recreation <br />Stan Sherwood, Fire Chief Joe Sease, Finance Officer Robert <br />Stewart, CIP Manager Pat O'Mally, Building Inspector Mark <br />Lewis, Parks Director Burt Clark, Purchasing Manager Tim <br />Blackwell <br /> <br />Others Present: Bob Clowers, United States Steel Workers <br />Union President; representatives from SWA Group; Blake Page <br />and Lee Allen, La Porte Soccer Association; Robert Allen; Jim <br />Sproule; John Hunter; Melissa Lestarjette, Bayshore Sun; 22 <br />citizens <br /> <br />2. The invocation was given by Councilperson Waters. <br /> <br />At this time, Mr. Robert Clowers addressed Council regarding <br />a resolution he wishes to have passed by Council in support <br />of having the companies who are going to build the Fred <br />Hartman bridge use steel from the United States rather than <br />foreign made steel. Council will put this resolution on the <br />agenda for June 8, 1987. <br /> <br />3. The Mayor called the public hearings regarding dangerous <br />buildings to order. The buildings are located at 701 South <br />Nugent, 202 West Fairmont Parkway, and 8423 Avington. <br /> <br />Mark Lewis, building inspector, briefly reviewed the <br />condition of the buildings and the procedures to be taken if <br />Council desires to continue the process. <br />
