<br />Minutes, Regular Meeting, La Porte City Council <br />March 11, 1991, Page 2 <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1748 - AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING CHAPTER 26, ARTICLE II, "WATER, SEWERS, AND SEWAGE <br />DISPOSAL," OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE; <br />ESTABLISHING A NEW RATE AND FEE STRUCTURE; FINDING COMPLIANCE <br />WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br />HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson McLaughlin to adopt Ordinance <br />1748 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Porter. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to table the .item and <br />bring it back to the next meeting as a workshop item and then <br />a regular item to consider for action. Second by <br />Councilperson Clarke. The motion carried, 5 ayes and 3 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Cooper, Matuszak, McLaughlin, Skelton <br />and Clarke, <br />Nays: Councilpersons Sutherland, Porter and Mayor Malone <br />6. Council considered an ordinance approving and adopting the <br />Coalition of Cities recommendation for settlement of the <br />pending Houston Lighting & Power Company rate case. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1749 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE COALITION OF CITIES RECOMMENDATION <br />FOR SETTLEMENT OF THE PENDING HOUSTON LIGHTING & POWER COMPANY <br />RATE CASE; CONTAINING FINDINGS AND OTHER PROVISIONS RELATED <br />TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; <br />AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to adopt Ordinance <br />1749 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Sutherland. The motion carried, 7 ayes, and 1 nay. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Matuszak, <br />McLaughlin, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: Councilperson Porter <br />7. Council considered a resolution authorizing submission of a <br />grant request to Governor's Criminal Justice Division for <br />Information Systems/Computer Aided Dispatch program. <br />The City Attorney read: RESOLUTION 91-03 - A RESOLUTION BY <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING <br />THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT REQUEST TO THE GOVERNOR'S CRIMINAL <br />JUSTICE DIVISION FOR FUNDING TO THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, <br />FOR A PROGRAM KNOWN AS INFORMATION SYSTEMS/COMPUTER AIDED <br />DISPATCH. <br />
