<br />Minutes, Regular Meeting, La Porte City Council <br />October 14, 1985, Page 3 <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE N0. 1471 - AN ORDINANCE <br />DETERMINING THE POPULATION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE AS OF MARCH <br />4, 1985; FINDING THAT THE DISTRIBUTION OF POPULATION AMONG THE <br />VARIOUS COUNCIL DISTRICTS IS MATERIALLY UNBALANCED; <br />ESTABLISHING NEW DISTRICT BOUNDARIES FOR THE RESIDENCE AND <br />ELECTION OF DISTRICT COUNCILPERSONS; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH <br />THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Westergre to adopt Ordinance <br />1.471 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Pfeiffer. The motion carried, 6 ayes and 1 nay. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Matuszak, Pfeiffer, Gay, Skelton, <br />Westergren and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: Councilperson Walker <br />7. Council considered an ordinance adopting the tax rate for FY <br />1985-86. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1472 - AN ORDINANCE LEVYING <br />TAXES UPON TAXABLE PROPERTY LOCATED WITHIN AND SUBJECT TO <br />TAXATION IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS; AND MAKING <br />APPROPRIATIONS FOR SUPPORT, MAINTENANCE, AND IMPROVEMENT OF <br />THE CITY GOVERNMENT OF SAID CITY OF LA PORTE; CONTAINING A <br />REPEALING CLAUSE; CONTAINING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; FINDING <br />COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Pfeiffer to adopt Ordinance <br />1472 as read by the Citv Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Gay. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Walker, Matuszak, Pfeiffer, Gay, <br />Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />8. Council considered an ordinance closing the alley in Block <br />1129, Town of La Porte. <br />
