The meeting was called to order by Mayor Malone at 6:00 P.M. <br /> <br />Members of ci ty Council Present: Mayor Norman Malone, <br />Councilpersons Betty Waters, Mike Cooper, Ed Matuszak, Bob <br />McLaughlin, Alton Porter, B. Don Skelton, Jerry Clarke <br /> <br />Members of city Council Absent: Councilperson Deotis Gay <br /> <br />Members of ci tv Staff Present: ci ty Manager Bob Herrera, City <br />Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Cherie Black, Assistant <br />City Manager John Joerns, Assistant to the City Manager Janie <br />Bais, Police Chief Charles Smith, Director of Parks and <br />Recreation Stan Sherwood, Director of Public Works Steve <br />Gillett, Director of Community Development Joel Albrecht, <br />Purchasing Manager/Human Resources Manager Louis Rigby, Chief <br />Building Inspector Ervin Griffith, Inspector Mark Lewis, <br />Finance Director Jeff Litchfield <br /> <br />Others Present: Libby Brown, LPISD; representatives of John <br />Wayne Chapter of DeMolay; Raynell Martinez; John Black, <br />Bayshore Sun; 18 citizens <br /> <br />2. The invocation was given by City Attorney Askins. <br /> <br />3. Council considered approving the minutes of the regular <br />meeting of Council held February 26, 1990. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Waters to approve the minutes <br />of February 26 as presented. Second by Councilperson Porter. <br />The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br /> <br />Nays: <br /> <br />Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Matuszak, McLaughlin, <br />Porter, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />None <br /> <br />Ayes: <br /> <br />4. The Mayor proclaimed National Poison Prevention Week, <br />International DeMolay Week, Youth Art Month, and Lions Day <br />with the United Nations. <br /> <br />5. The Mayor called the public hearing on dangerous buildings to <br />order. A list of the buildings and reasons they were <br />considered to be dangerous was given by Inspector Mark Lewis. <br /> <br />The Mayor asked for public input as each building was listed. <br />Mr. Joseph Board spoke regarding the building located on lots <br />31 and 32, Block 85, and asked that he be given time to remove <br />the contents of the building before it was demolished. <br />
