The following citizens addressed Council: (1) Mr. Eugene <br />Abbott, regarding sanitary sewer service to a business outside <br />La Porte City Limits; (2) Mr. Charlie Hinds, requesting a cap <br />be put on the spending of funds to fight Houston Chemical <br />Services permit application and to report that he had <br />contacted the County and sidewalks were being put in from <br />Valley View to the intermediate school; (3) Ms. Diwanna <br />Zapalac, requesting that the city look into recycling and <br />requesting a committee to study the issue be formed; (4) Mr. <br />Gerald Kudla, thanking Council for their work done to oppose <br />the incinerator; (5) Ms. Jodie Seeger, requesting recycling <br />be considered and encouraging Council to continue opposing the <br />HCS permit application; (6) Ms. Lisa Honeycutt, asking for <br />help with a tree located in front of La Porte Hardware; (7) <br />Ms. Jo Davis, representing citizens for a Quality Environment, <br />thanking Council for their work to oppose HCS permit <br />application and urging that they continue to do so. <br /> <br />At this time, Council adjourned into executive session at 6:28 <br />P.M. to discuss two items: (1) Legal - Meet with attorney to <br />receive report regarding Houston Chemical Services, <br />Inc./Southern Ionics, Inc.; (2) Conference - Meet with city <br />Manager regarding agreement for temporary sanitary sewer <br />service by and between the City of La Porte and Abbott <br />Development Company. Council returned to the table at 8:03 <br />P.M. <br /> <br />7. Council considered an ordinance approving and authorizing an <br />agreement for temporary sanitary sewer service by and between <br />the City of La Porte and Abbott Development Corporation. This <br />ordinance had been tabled at the meeting of April 23 by <br />Councilperson Porter. <br /> <br />Motion was made bv Councilperson Porter to bring this <br />ordinance back to the table. Second by Councilperson Skelton. <br />The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br /> <br />Nays: <br /> <br />Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Skelton, Clarke <br />Malone <br />None <br /> <br />Matuszak, <br />and Mayor <br /> <br />Ayes: <br /> <br />This item had been discussed in executive session in regard <br />to Mr. Abbott's report and review of the letter from the City <br />of Deer Park's city Manager, Ron Crabtree. No action was <br />taken, but the City Manager was directed to visit with the <br />Deer Park City Manager regarding the agreement. <br />
