i • <br />Minutes, Called Regular Meeting <br />La Porte City Council <br />August 6, 1990, Page 2 <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1714 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT FOR PROFESSIONAL <br />ENGINEERING SERVICES BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE, <br />TEXAS AND H . CARLOS SMITH ENGINEERS AND SURVEYORS INC . ; MAKING <br />VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to adopt Ordinance <br />1714 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Gay. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, McLaughlin, <br />Porter, Gay, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />6. Council considered endorsing the proposed Harris County <br />Mayors' and Councils' Association resolution regarding a <br />request for a new METRO rail plan election. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to approve <br />endorsement of the proposed HCMCA resolution regarding a <br />request for a new METRO rail plan election. Second by <br />Councilperson Porter. The motion carried, 7 ayes, 0 nays, 1 <br />abstain. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, McLaughlin, Gay, <br />Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Councilperson Porter <br />7. Council considered awarding a bid for replacement of a failed <br />sanitary sewer line on "F" Street. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Gay to award the bid for <br />sewer line replacement on "F" Street to McKey Construction <br />in the amount of 535,944.00. Second by Councilperson Clarke. <br />The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, McLaughlin, <br />Porter, Gay, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />8.
