<br /> <br />. <br /> <br />"" <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />GREATER HARRIS COUNTY <br />9.1.1 EMERGENCY NETWORK <br /> <br />M E M 0 <br /> <br />TO: City Secretary <br /> <br />FROM: Adele Gottlieb, 9-1-1. <br />Emergency Network <br /> <br />DATE: August 27, 1987 <br /> <br />RE: 9-1-1 DAY <br /> <br />Friday, September 11, has been designated by the U. S. Congress <br />as NATIONAL 9-1-1 DAY. Additionally, the Board of Managers of <br />the Greater Harris County 9-1-1 Emergency Network has passed a <br />Resolution recognizing the value of the 9-1-1 emergency system. <br /> <br />In conjunction with this Resolution, the 9-1-1 Network is <br />planning some activities that will take place on September 11, <br />involving children releasing some balloons during a press <br />conference at a local park, some interviews with citizens that <br />have used 9-1-1 during an emergency, and a display of some <br />equipment used by the public safety agencies. The major <br />newspapers, and the local newspapers in your area will be running <br />an ad and/or a public service message on that day reminding the <br />citizens that 9-1-1 is available and should be used in the event <br />of an emergency situation where pOlice, fire or an ambulance unit <br />is needed. <br /> <br />Would you please make a copy of' this Resolution available f'or <br />your City Council Members and inf'orm them that September 11, will <br />not only be recognized locally as 9-1-1 DAY, but for the first <br />time, across the nation. <br /> <br />Should you have any questions, or require additional information, <br />do not hesitate to call at (713) 863-9911.
