Office of the <br />~. <br />r <br />~~ <br />j~pxp~i~ : More than 230,000 Harris County residents are 65 years <br />of age or older with rich years of promise still before <br />them; and <br />WHEREAS, many of our older citizens have given and continue to give their <br />best to Hams County through the Retired Senior Volunteer Program; and <br />WHEREAS, Retired Senior Volunteer Program Recognition Day is a time for all <br />citizens of La Porte to renew the recognition, the respect and the active concern which properly <br />belongs to our older cituens and to acknowledge that most older persons are not mere onlookers <br />in our society, but that they are vital, versatile, and highly valued contributors to the quality of <br />our city's life; and <br />WHEREAS, actions on behalf of our older citizens should be <br />designed to free and assist senior citizens so that they may remain active and <br />involved in ways of their own choosing <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, NORMAN L. MALONE, MAYOR of the City <br />of La Porte, do hereby proclaim the week of October 13, 1992, as <br />RETIRED SENIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM RECOGNITION DAY <br />in the City of La Porte, and encourage all citizens to join me in appropriate recognition of our <br />Retired Senior Volunteers who annually contribute more than 20,000 hours tltrot~gllout our <br />community. <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I hrn~e hereunto set my hand and caused the <br />Seal of the City to be affixed hereto, this the 28th day of September, 1992. <br />CITY OF LA PORTE <br />Mayor <br />Norman L.
