MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL CALLED MEETING AND <br />WORKSHOP MEETING OF LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 17, 1999 <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Norman Malone at 6:00 p.m. <br />Members of City Council Present: Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, Chuck Engelken, <br />Howard Ebow, Peter Griffiths, Alton Porter, Deotis Gay, Charlie Young, Jerry Clarke, <br />and Mayor Malone. <br />Members of Council Absent: None <br />Members of City Executive Staff and City Employees Present: City Manager Robert T. <br />Herrera, City Attorney John Armstrong, Assistant City Manger John Joerns, Assistant <br />City Manager Jeff Litchfield, Assistant City Secretary Janis Goulder, Director of <br />Administrative Services Louis Rigby, Director of Planning Doug Kneupper, Auxiliary <br />Services Lieutenant Carl Crisp, Assistant Finance Director Cynthia Alexander, <br />Administrative Assistant Carol Buttler, EMS Chief Chris Osten, Paramedic Supervisor <br />Ray Nolen, Paramedic Lisa Camp, Paramedic Robyn Gallion, Paramedic Tony Thuem, <br />Paramedic Andrew Chalk, Fire Suppression Supervisor Champ Dunham. <br />Others Present: Spero Pomonis, Suzan Rector, Mike Mosteit, David Webb, David <br />Hawes, Decker McKim, Chester Pool, Carlton Porter, Collene Hicks, Carrington <br />Weems. <br />2. Mayor Norman Malone delivered the Invocation. <br />3. Council considered approving the minutes of the Special Called Meeting on May 4, <br />1999. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Engelken to approve the minutes of the Special <br />Called Meeting on May 4. 1999 as presented. Second by Councilperson Griffiths. The <br />motion carried unanimously. <br />Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Griffiths, Porter, Gay, Young, Clarke and Mayor <br />Malone. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />4. PETITIONS, REMONSTRANCES, COMMUNICATIONS, AND CITIZENS AND <br />TAX PAYERS WISHING TO ADDRESS COUNCIL <br />Spero Pomonis - 218 Bay Colony, La Porte, Texas 77571. Mr. Pomonis voiced his <br />displeasure with the Proposed Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone. <br />
