CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Norman Malone at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Members of Citv Council Present: Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, Chuck Engelken, <br />Howard Ebow, Peter Griffiths, Alton Porter, Charlie Young, Jerry Clarke, and Mayor <br />Norman Malone <br /> <br />Members of Council Absent: Councilperson Deotis Gay <br /> <br />Members of City Executive Staff and Citv Emolovees Present: City Manager Robert T. <br />Herrera, City Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Martha Gillett, Assistant City <br />Manager John Joerns, Assistant City Manager Jeff Litchfield, Administrative Assistant <br />Carol Buttler, Director of Planning Doug Kneupper, Director of Public Works Steve <br />Gillett, Auxiliary Services Lieutenant Carl Crisp, Director of Parks & Recreation <br />Stephen Barr, Police Chief Richard Reff, Planning Masood Malik, Assistant Public <br />Works Director Buddy Jacobs, Assistant Finance Director Cynthia Alexander, Human <br />Resources Manager Sydney Upchurch, Auxiliary Services Sergeant Sammy Jacobs. <br /> <br />Others Present: Mrs. Richard Reff, Mrs. Sammy Jacobs, Linda Barley, Mrs. Shippey, <br />Lou Lawler, Evelyn Kennedy, Mr. Burgess, Mary McLain, Lisa & Norman Cook, <br />Spero Pomonis, Bob Pizzatola, Brenda Brown, Summer Cacciotto, and a number of <br />citizens. <br /> <br />2. Mayor Norman Malone delivered the Invocation. <br /> <br />3. Council considered approving the minutes of the Regular Meeting on June 28, 1999. <br /> <br />Motion was made bv CounciIperson Clarke to approve the minutes of the Ree:ular <br />Meetine: as oresented. Second by Councilperson Engelken. The motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Griffiths, Porter, Young, Clarke and Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br /> <br />4. PETITIONS, REMONSTRANCES, COMMUNICATIONS, AND CITIZENS AND <br />TAX PAYERS WISHING TO ADDRESS COUNCIL <br /> <br />1. Lennis Anderson, Senior Equipment Operator for Public Works was recognized <br />as retiring with 16 years of service to the City of La Porte. Mr. Herrera and <br />Mr. Gillett presented Mr. Anderson with a gift form the City. <br />
