MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING, <br />OF LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />NOVEMBER 22, 1999 <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Norman Malone at 6:00 p.m. <br />Members of City Council Present: Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, Chuck Engelken, <br />Howard Ebow, Peter Griffiths, Alton Porter, Deotis Gay, Charlie Young, Jerry Clarke, <br />and Mayor Norman Malone. <br />Members of Council Absent: None <br />Members of City Executive Staff and City Employees Present: City Manager Robert T. <br />Herrera, Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong, City Secretary Martha Gillett, <br />Director of Public Works Steve Gillett, Chief of Police Richard Reff, Assistant Finance <br />Director Cynthia Alexander, Administrative Assistant Carol Buttler, and Accountant <br />Shelley Hart. <br />Others Present: Spero Pomonis, Barry Beasley, Cherie Black, Shauna Wilson, Evelyn <br />Kennedy, Susan Parastar, and a number of citizens. <br />2. Mayor Norman Malone delivered the Invocation. <br />3. Council considered approving the minutes of the Regular Meeting on November 8, <br />1999. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Engelken to approve the minutes of the Regular <br />Meeting as presented. Second by Councilperson Clarke. The motion carried. <br />Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Griffiths, Gay, Young, Clarke, and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Porter <br />4. PETITIONS, REMONSTRANCES, COMMUNICATIONS, AND CITIZENS AND <br />TAXPAYERS WISHING TO ADDRESS COUNCIL. <br />Linda Barley - Neighborhood Center - Ms. Barley was here to extend appreciation to <br />City Council for assistance to the Neighborhood Center. Evelyn Kennedy read a poem <br />of appreciation to City Council. <br />Barry Beasley with Southwestern Bell presented a check for a Grant to Administrative <br />Assistant Carol Buttler. <br />Items 5 and 6 were considered and voted on together. <br />5. Council considered approving a resolution amending authorized representatives for <br />Logic. <br />
