<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Resolution No. 72-01 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said Armand Bayou is a major route of drainage <br />for a great portion of East Harris County and as such is of <br />major concern to the residents of this area; NOW THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />THAT we are gravely concerned with the preservation of <br /> <br /> <br />Armand Bayou and wish to add our voices of support to the <br /> <br /> <br />great hue and cry in favor of all efforts to save this <br /> <br /> <br />important natural area as a park for ourselves and our <br /> <br /> <br />children. <br /> <br />THAT we support the City of Pasadena in its efforts to <br />acquire and develop Armand Bayou Park for its use as a <br />permanent open-space land area for active and passive recre- <br />ation, nature studies, hiking and to preserve natural areas <br />and wildlife habitats. <br /> <br />THAT other local governmental bodies, Harris County, <br />the State of Texas, and agencies of the Federal Government <br />are urged to join with both concern and active participation <br />in this effort to improve the human condition. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />THAT, furl:.her, we wish to express our concern over the <br /> <br /> <br />preservation of the drainage tributaries of the Armand <br /> <br /> <br />Bayou System; these tributaries being necessary to keep <br /> <br />intact and prrnnote the ecological balance of the area. <br /> <br />THAT a comprehensive drainage survey of the area must <br /> <br />be made to provide for adequate drainage for the residents <br /> <br />therein and for future development. <br /> <br />. <br />
