<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 71- 07 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Texas Senator Don Kennard has proposed an amend- <br /> <br />ment to HB 730, which would combine a 2~ increase in the state <br /> <br />gasoline tax with the transfer of certain responsibilities from <br /> <br />the cities of ~rexas to the Texas Highway Department; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, under this proposal, the Texas Highway Department <br /> <br />would assume the entire cost of right-of-way acquisitions, <br /> <br />rather than the existing 50-50 arrangement with cities, and, <br /> <br />further, the Texas Highway Department would assume all curb <br /> <br />and gutter costs normally paid the cities of Texas, and the <br /> <br />cost of adjustment of publicly-owned utilities presently paid <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />for by cities of Texas; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the cities of Texas are incurring problems in <br /> <br />funding said right-of-way, curb and gutter, and right-of-way <br /> <br />relocation expenses, in relation to Texas Highway Department <br /> <br />projects; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the approval of the aforementioned proposal <br /> <br />will provide much needed revenue to the cities of Texas~ <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission <br /> <br />of the City of La Porte that it endorses the aforementioned <br /> <br />proposal by Senator Don Kennard, and urges the members of <br /> <br />the Harris County legislative delegation to support said <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />proposal. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED this 3rd day of May, 1971. <br />CITY OF ~ TEXAS <br /> <br />By ~a~~:?!- <br /> <br />..... <br /> <br />,ATTEST: /' <br /> <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />APt?2 ~ ~ <br /> <br />City Attorney <br /> <br />........,.. <br />
