. -- 1- ~ -w ORDINANCE NO..' 845 ' AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE REFERENDUM ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE ON - JANUARY ,10, 1970. Bg IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: Section 1. There was held in the City of La Porte, on the lOth day of January, 1970, a referendum election, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors of the City of La Porte, for their approval or disapproval, Ordinance No. 836, heretofore enacted on November 17, 1969. Section 2. The official election returns heretofore delivered by the election Judge and officials of the election .- to the Mayor and City Commissioners of the City of La Porte and submitted to the City,'Commission, show that there were cast at said election the following votes, to-wit: "FOR THE ORDINANCE" 332 ~ II AGAINST THE ORDINANCE II. 480 G. A total of 812 votes were cast at said election. Section 3. The City Commission of the City of La Porte hereby finds, determines and declares that said election was duly called and notice thereof given in accordance with law; that said election was held in the manner required by law~ .-- that due returns of said election have been made by the proper offices; that said returns have been canvassed by the City Commission of the City of La Porte~ that a total of eight hundred twelve (8l2) persons voted in said election, including persons voting on the regular machine, and on the absentee voting machine; that said referred Ordinance No. 836 was not approved by a majority of the electors voting thereon, and the same is therefore deemed repealed, in accordance with the provisions of the Home Rule Charter of the City of La Porte. Section 4. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval, and it is so .~ ordered.
