<br />. e <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 846 ' <br /> <br />-. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE CALLING THE REGULAR ANNUAL ELECTION OF THE CITY <br />OF LA PORTE; DESIGNATING AN ELECTION PRECINCT AND A POLLING <br />PLACE~ PROVIDING FOR THE USE OF VOTING MACHINES~ APPOINTING <br />ELECTION OFFICIALS~ PROVIDING FOR METHOD AND DATES OF ABSENTEE <br />VOTING; PROVIDING FOR RETURN AND CANVASS OF VOTES OF SAID <br />ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR NOTICE; PROVIDING FOR FILING DEADLINE <br />AND FILING FEES FOR CANDIDATES; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE~ <br />AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: <br /> <br />Section 1. An election shall be held within the corporate <br />limits of the City of La Porte, Texas, on the 4th day of April, <br /> <br />1970; such day being the first Saturday in April, 1970, between <br /> <br />seven o'clock (7:00) A.M. and seven o'clock (7:00) P.M., for <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />the purpose of electing a Mayor of said City; a Commissioner of <br /> <br />said City for Position No.2; and a Commissioner of said City <br /> <br />for Position No.4. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Commission of the City of La Porte <br /> <br />hereby designates and establishes all of the area encompassed <br /> <br />within the corporate limits of the City of La Porte, as one <br /> <br />election precinct for this election, and the City Hall of the <br /> <br />City of La Porte is designated as the one polling place for <br /> <br />such election. Voting machines shall be used in the conduct of <br /> <br />such election. <br /> <br />Mrs. Arbela Ralston <br /> <br />is hereby <br /> <br />Section 3. <br /> <br />'. <br /> <br />appointed Presiding Judge of said election, and <br />Mrs. Isadore Jenkins is hereby appointed Alternate presiding <br /> <br />Ju~ge of said election. The maximum number of clerks which <br />may be appointed to serve at said election is three (3), who <br /> <br />shall be selected by the Presiding Judge or the Alternate <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Presiding Judge, as the case may be. <br />Section 4. Absentee voting by personal appearance shall <br />b~gin on the 20th day and shall continue through the 4th day <br />preceding the day of the election. Absentee voting shall be <br />conducted by the City Clerk at the same place as provided in <br />Section 2 hereof. Voting machines shall be used for the <br />casting of absentee votes at such election. The City Clerk <br />
