<br />. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />V' <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. q~6 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING THE DISCONTINUATION OF ELECTRIC SERVICE <br />ON BROKEN OR UNSAFE ELECTRIC WIRES; PROVIDING FOR NOTICE BY THE <br />BUILDING INSPECTOR TO THE LIGHT AND POWER COMPANY; PROVIDING <br />THAT ANY PERSON VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE <br />DEEMED GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND UPON CONVICTION SHALL BE FINED <br />IN ANY SUM NOT MORE THAN TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00); AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: <br /> <br />Section 1. Whenever any electric wire shall be broken, or <br /> <br />is in unsafe condition, it shall be the duty of the owner of <br /> <br />such wire, or the president or manager of the company owning <br />or controlling such wire, to immediately cause the current to <br />. be discontinued until such wire is put in safe condition. <br />Section 2. If, when any test is being made, or if at any <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />other time, the wiring system in any building is found to be <br />defective and dangerous, the current shall be cut off by the <br />light and power company, if so demanded in writing by the <br />building inspector, and shall not again be turned on until the <br /> <br />defects are corrected, and the wiring made safe and in accordance <br /> <br />with this article and all other applicable ordinances, and until <br /> <br />the light and power company has the certificate of the inspector, <br /> <br />it shall be a separate offense, both in the corporation and in <br /> <br />the manager or other person in charge of such corporation in <br /> <br />the city, for each day that the electric current is permitted to <br /> <br />remain on the wires to such building contrary to the Ordinance. <br /> <br />Section 3. Any person, firm, corporation, association or <br /> <br />partnership, trustee, or any agent, servant or employee thereof <br /> <br />who shall violate any provision of this ordinance shall be <br /> <br />deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be <br /> <br />punished by a fine not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00), <br />and each day of violation shall be deemed a separate offense. <br />
