e . NO. 1034 '.., AN ORDINANCE DECLARING ,THE RESULTS OF THE RUN-OFF ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE ON APRIL 24, 1976, FOR THE ELECTION OF A MAYOR, AND A CITY COMMISSIONER, POSITION 4. WHEREAS, there was held in the City of La Porte, on the 24th day of April! 1976, a run-off election for the purpose of electing a Mayor of the City of La Porte, and a City Commission- er, Position 4; each to serve for a two-year term; and WHEREAS, there were cast at said election for the following listed persons the number of votes opposite their respective names: MAYOR: .."'"'"'. .~. .. ~ J. J. Meza 749 E. ,A. "Buck" Thomas 625 CITY COMMISSIONER, POSITION 4: Fred E. Westergren, Jr. 571 Tom C. Simons 785 as shown in the official election returns heretofore delivered by the Election Judge and officials to the Mayor and City Com- missioners of the City of La Porte and submitted to the City Commission: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ,LA PORTE: .J.,.. . Section 1. That said run-off election was duly called and notice thereof given in accordance with law; that said run-off election was'held in the manner required by law; that due returns of said election have been m~de by the proper officers; that said returns have been canvassed by the City Commission of the City of La Porte; that a total of 1,385 persons voted at said run-off election, including persons voting on April 24, 1976, and including persons voting absentee; that said election has resulted in the election of the following named persons as Mayor, and as City Commissioner, Position 4, of the City of La Porte ,to-wi t:' .
