<br />. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br /> <br />1256 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE ELECTION ON THE <br />QUESTION OF ADOPTION OF CIVIL SERVICE FOR POLICEMEN WITHIN THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE; HELD IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE ON APRIL 4, 1981. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there was held in the City of La Porte, on the <br /> <br />4th day of April, 1981, an election on the question of adoption <br /> <br />of Civ i1 Serv ice for Pol icemen wi thin the City of La Porte, <br />pursuant to Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, Article 1269m; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there were cast at said election for and against <br /> <br />such question, the following votes: <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />FOR the adoption of the Policemen's Civil Service Act <br /> <br />1.186 <br /> <br />AGAINST the adoption of the Policemen's Civil Service Act 410 <br /> <br />as shown in the official election returns heretofore delivered <br /> <br />by the Election Judge and officials to the Mayor and City <br />Council of the City of La Porte and submi tted to the Ci ty <br /> <br />Council. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE: <br /> <br />Section 1. That said election was duly called and notice <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />thereof given in accordance with law; that said election was <br /> <br />held in the manner required by law; that due returns of said <br /> <br />election have been made by the proper officers; that said <br />returns have been canvassed by the City Council of the City of <br /> <br />La Porte; that a majority of the qualified voters who voted <br /> <br />on said question have voted <br /> <br />FOR <br /> <br />the adoption of Civil <br /> <br />Service for Policemen within the City of La Porte, Texas. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Council officially finds, deter- <br /> <br />mines, recites and declares that a sufficient written notice <br /> <br />of the date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the <br /> <br />City Council was posted at a place convenient to the public at <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />the City Hall of the City for the time required by law preceding <br /> <br />this meeting, as required by the Open Meetings Law, Article <br />
