<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. . <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1182 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS DURING CONSTRUCTION ON A <br />PORTION OF SH 146 WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF <br />LA PORTE, TEXAS, AND PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON VIOLATING THE <br />PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL UPON CONVICTION BE FINED IN <br />ANY SUM NOT TO EXCEED ~~O HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00); AND PROVIDING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />T~EREAS, the State Department of Highways and Public <br /> <br />Transportation has made it known to the City of La Porte that <br /> <br />operations will begin in the near future to do pavement markings, <br /> <br />and resurface pavement along SH 146 and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in the interest of safety, it is desirable to maintain <br /> <br />a construction speed zone during the construction period; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> <br />CITY OF LA PORTE: <br /> <br />Section 1. That a construction speed zone be established <br /> <br />along SH 146 from La Porte North City Limit to the Southern Pacific <br /> <br />Railroad Underpass, a distance of approximately 1.IIS miles, 35 mph, <br /> <br />when so signed within said zone. <br /> <br />Section 2. Necessary signs for posting the speed zone will be <br /> <br />furnished, installed, and maintained by direction of the State <br /> <br />Department of Highways and Public Transportation engineer in <br /> <br />charge of the project. <br /> <br />Section 3. Any person violating the provisions of this <br /> <br />ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined in any sum not to exceed <br /> <br />Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00). <br /> <br />Section 4. This ordinance shall be in effect only during the <br /> <br />period of construction, and completion of the project shall auto- <br /> <br />matically cancel the speed zone. <br /> <br />Section S. This ordinance shall be effective from and after <br /> <br />its passage, approval and publication, as provided by law. <br />
