<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />. . <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1172 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS DURING CONSTRUCTION ON A <br />PORTION OF SH 146 EAST FRONTAGE ROAD WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS <br />OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, AND PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON <br />VIOLATING THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL UPON CONVICTION <br />BE FINED IN ANY SUM NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00); <br />AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />~~EREAS, the State Department of Highways and Public <br /> <br />Transportation has made it known to the City of La Porte that <br /> <br />operations will begin in the near future to construct structures, <br /> <br />base, grading, signing, pavement markings, and surface pavement <br /> <br />along SH 146 East Frontage Road, and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in the interest of safety, it is desirable to <br /> <br />maintain a construction speed zone during the construction period; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE: <br /> <br />Section 1. That a construction speed zone be established <br /> <br />along SH 146 East Frontage Road from Barbour's Cut Boulevard <br /> <br />to North "L" Street a distance of approximately 0.554 miles, 30 <br /> <br />miles per hour, when so signed within said zone. <br /> <br />Section 2. Necessary signs for posting the speed zone will <br /> <br />be furnished, installed, and maintained by d:i,rection of the State <br /> <br />Department of Highways and Public Transportation engineer in charge <br /> <br />of the project. <br /> <br />Section 3. Any person violating the provisions of this <br /> <br />ordinance shall upon conviction, be fined in any sum not to exceed <br /> <br />Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00). <br /> <br />Section 4. This ordinance shall be in effect only during the <br /> <br />period of construction, and completion of the project shall auto- <br /> <br />matical1y cancel the speed zone. <br />Section 5. This ordinance shall be effective from and after <br /> <br />its passage, approval and publication, as provided by law. <br />
