Fairmont Parkway LaPorte, TX 77571 Dear Mayor Rigby, DISTRICT OFFICE: 909 DECKER DRIVE BAYTowN, TEXAS 77520 (832) 556-2002 FAX(832)556,0319 Thank you for your recent letter stating the City of La Porte's opposition to the Gulf Coast Community Protection and Recovery District's (GCCPRD) proposal of Central Region Alternative #2 (CR #2) and the support for the Central Region Alternative #1 (CR #1). I sincerely appreciate hearing from my local city on a matter that has been of great concern to my office, our local governmental entities and our community as a whole. The citizens in District 128 have endured many setbacks resulting from the devastation that Hurricane Ike and others have created. I too share your concern with GCCPRD's suggestion of CR #2 as I believe it has the potential to leave a considerable amount of our citizens unprotected from storm surges. At the state level, I will do everything in my power to urge the GCCPRD to choose CR #I as I believe it is currently the best option to effectively and equitably protect the businesses and citizens in our coastal community. Knowing that you and the city council are in agreement will only further bolster my opposition to CR #2 and support for CR #1. I am certain many more discussions on this issue will take place in the coming months, and I greatly value your opinion and your willingness to be an integral part of these discussions.
